Gustavo heads to Wolfsburg





Wolfsburg have confirmed that they have secured the services of Bayern Munich midfielder Luiz Gustavo for an undisclosed fee, beating Arsenal to the signature of the Brazilian.

The 26 year old Gustavo has signed a 5 years contract with the 2008-2009 Bundesliga champions. He was keen to leave Bayern after he was deemed surplus to requirements by new coach Pep Guardiola following the arrival of Thiago Alcantra.

He had also caught the attention of Arsenal and the Premier league giants had an offer of over 20 million euros accepted, However, he decided to stay in germany.

"We're very pleased to have convinced Luiz with our plans for Vfl and managed to keep him in the Bundesliga." sporting director Klaus Allofs said.


Gustavo however said it was a tough decision for him, important details were taken into considerations. I like Wolfsburg, I like Germany. The security the country gives me makes 

me relaxed, i want to start a new life here.


Gustavo had joined Bayern from Hoffenheim in january 2011, making over 60 Bundesliga apperances for the Allianz Arena side, where he also won the treble in 2012-13
